"Music in Every Home" is an initiative that Natalie is involved with by the Harrisonburg Music Teachers Association.
This project seeks to ease some of the access barriers to music education from underserved members of our community in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.
HMTA aims to provide a musical instrument and sponsored lesson time on that instrument to 25 k-12 students by 2025.
"Expressions of Home" was a collaborative arts-integrative project by artistic educators Zach Dishman and Natalie Doughty to benefit Central Valley Habitat for Humanity, and highlight the work they do in the Shenandoah Valley.
Awarded an "Arts for Education" grant by the Arts Council of the Valley, "Expressions of Home" exhibited at various locations in Rockingham County/Harrisonburg City Spring-Fall 2019. The project included a student showcase, local community sing-a-long and art workshop, and a final reception. Partners included John Wayland Elementary School, Blue Sprocket Sound, Explore More Discover More Museum, and the Church of the Incarnation.
